Oeufertory - "Egg Offering"
Oeuf, french for egg, Offertory:meaning offering
Created in April of 2017
Dimensions: 6.5 height x 6 depth x 3.5 wide
Oeufertory is a real emu egg hand cut and detailed in mixed media as a modern expression of the spirit of faberge eggs.
The flamingo displayed is hand-sculpted and hand-painted. I use paper clay and vintage millinery flowers to achieve the finished result.
The egg is nested in broken china detailed with real shells from the gulf coast. The larger I have found myself while walking the beach in Marco Island, Ft. Myers, and Sanibel. The small cat's eye style shells are from a little shop in Bradenton Beach.
A variety of fabric, Dresden paper, and metal banding embellish the outside shell. Real and faux pearl, ostrich feather, and moss add further detail to complete the piece.
This is a very special, one of a kind sculpture that was carefully created at every stage of it's development. I would love for it to go a wonderful home, even more so presented as a meaningful gift to someone special.
*The egg does not close-it is suspended open to display the flamingo*
